How we got here

Cape Verde
Our grandfather is born on the islands and, like so many Cape Verdeans, moves to the port city of Rotterdam.

Setúbal
The family settles in Setúbal, Portugal. Summers at the farm of aunts and uncles, chicken on the charcoal, everyone eating by hand, kizomba on the radio.

2017, De Pijp
Bas and his daughter Ruby open a small chicken joint on the Eerste Sweelinckstraat. Portuguese grill, family marinade, the tiles on the wall.

2019, West
The second shop, on De Clercqstraat in Oud-West. Bigger, with tables you can reserve and the neon that everyone photographs.

Oost
The third shop, on the Javaplein in the Indische Buurt, with a terrace and room for the whole family.

Today
Three shops, one grill philosophy, and Max at the table as co-owner. Same marinade, same fire, same welcome.
